Municipality addresses resident’s service delivery concerns
The Ward 2 public meeting, held at the Ferrum swimming pool last Tuesday (March 5) provided citizens with a direct opportunity to address the major concerns affecting them with municipal officials.
“We are not here to defend anything but we are here to hear the concerns of the people, go back to the office and look for solutions for the issues raised,” stated Dr. Thabede, Head of Communications at the Municipality.
It didn’t take long for locals to list their complaints, some of which go as far back as 2018 and beyond.
Issues addressed included electricity, particularly broken streetlights and unlocked substations/kiosks, roads riddled with potholes, stormwater management, sewerage problems, grass cutting, unmaintained private property/vacant properties and landfill site issues.
“We will try our best to give you responses to your issues, they might not be adequate for you but we will try,” Thabede responded.
The municipality further recommitted ‘to addressing the issues cooperatively raised by the residents.
