Lions Club members to ease winter blues with Winter Warmer project

To achieve their goal, they are reaching out to individuals, schools, and businesses, kindly requesting second-hand clothing donations.

In an effort to make winter a little less harsh for those in need, the Newcastle Lions Club is turning up the heat.

Lion members have asked Newcastle residents to imagine facing winter without clothing, blankets, and other items often taken for granted.

Many children are forced to walk to school in clothing that offers very little to no protection from the icy-cold elements.

The Lions will host their sixth annual Winter Warmer Project to help support the underprivileged in their community, ensuring they stay warm during the colder months.

Donations can include warm clothing, jerseys, jackets, winter pajamas, closed shoes, and blankets.

“Your generous contributions will make a significant impact on the lives of those in need. If you have gently used clothes that you would be willing to donate, we would be immensely grateful.

“Boys clothing and men’s smaller sizes are especially needed.”

These items can be dropped off at the following locations: Broker Assist, Nashua, Pam Golding, and Davida van der Merwe Optometrist.

For more information about the initiative, contact Annette on 083 629 3909 or Jakkie on 073 106 0853.

“Your support will go a long way in making this winter a bit more bearable for those less fortunate than yourself,” They concluded.
