Minister overwhelmed by support for small business Imbizo

The Imbizo also served as an opportunity for citizens to give feedback on where they think government must improve on service delivery

The Minister for Small Business, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, held a service delivery campaign as well as a Ministerial Imbizo crusade at the Bergville sports complex on Tuesday (May 21).

Ndabeni-Abrahams was joined by KZN CoGTA MEC Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi and Okhahlamba Local Municipality leadership.

One of the main objectives of the Imbizo was to bring to one table all economic stakeholders, as well as residents, to iron out issues affecting businesses in semi-rural KwaZulu-Natal towns.

It is also an unmediated communication between government and its citizens as they seek to uphold the constitutional principle of a participatory democracy where people can voice their concerns, opinions and aspirations to their elected representatives.

“I am inspired by the overwhelming support that today’s Ministerial Imbizo has received from the people of the uThukela District generally and Okhahlamba in particular. An Imbizo is a platform for our stakeholders to assess the responsiveness of the department’s programmes to their needs, and to make suggestions to the department and its agencies on how we can improve the manner in which we implement our programmes,” said Ndabeni-Abrahams.
