A normal school day descended into chaos on Wednesday (May 15) when an altercation between two Ferrum High School boys led to a violent assault, leaving one of the boys severely injured and another facing a charge of attempted murder.

SAPS said the confrontation occurred in the morning during the first break in a school bathroom.
According to authorities, the 17-year-old victim’s father received a call from the school informing him that his son had been assaulted.
When he arrived at the school, he saw that his child had been severely injured, with both of his lips cut open and a bump on his head.
According to a police report, the victim said the assailant called him (to the bathroom) but he refused to go.
After that, four students allegedly pulled him up and carried him into the restrooms, where they restrained him while the 17-year-old assailant repeatedly struck his head.
The Chairperson of Ferrum School’s Governing Body, Andre Groenewald, confirmed the incident, stating: “The school is currently investigating the matter to compile statements and gather evidence from all the learners and witnesses involved.”
SAPS spokesperson, Lizzy Arumungam confirmed that no arrests had been made and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
