‘No rules’ as bikers bring some love to the elderly

Not only were they treated with a care package and pancakes, but they also had the opportunity to get on a motorbike

Last month (September), No Rules Motorcycle Club Vryheid hosted the first ‘Street to Strip’ drag race since 2018 on the Junction bypass towards Paulpietersburg. This year, the club wanted to spice things up by hosting an event that would also attract and involve the community, instead of their usual Poker Run where they raise funds to help those in need. The club focused on bringing hope and laughter among the elderly at SAVF Jubileum Old Age Home. The funds raised during the drag racing event were used to buy self-care products like soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. These products are taken for granted by the common person in the street, but to some of these residents who can’t afford to live elsewhere, they are a blessing. The old age home residents have no other income apart from the government grant they have to use for their medication, as well as other necessities. Not only were they treated with a care package and pancakes, but they also had the opportunity to get on a motorbike to experience freedom as the wind gusted through their hair. No Rules Motorcycle Club Vryheid, together with Cane Riders from Pongola and Cruisers MCC from Vryheid, brought some much-needed love and care to the residents of the old age home, bringing tears of joy and gratitude to many eyes…
