uThukela team wished all the best in SALGA Games
The team will be participating in five out of the 16 available sporting codes
Yesterday (December 5), uThukela District Municipality held a send-off for the uThukela SALGA KZN DSAC Team that will be participating in the SALGA Games.
The games were officially opened yesterday and will continue until Sunday (December 8).
uThukela Mayor Inkosi NB Shabalala and Inkosi Langalibalele Mayor M Myeza, along with District Speaker TY Nqubuka and a team of councillors, were part of the ceremony in the grounds of the local municipality.
District Mayor Shabalala conveyed a message of support and words of encouragement to the team, thanking them for working hard to represent the district. The mayor advised the players to take care of themselves while they’re in Durban. He also encouraged the group to give of their best, saying they are already victors and the district is ‘very proud of them’.

The mayor ended off by reassuring the team that they (uThukela) are fully behind them. “We will also accompany you, as councillors, to give you all the support you need.” His words were a rallying call for the team to strive for excellence and bring pride back to the district.
Inkosi Langalibalele Mayor Myeza also wished the uThukela team well and asked them to ‘represent the district well in these games’.
