The Department of Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal would like to remind the owners of spaza shops and other food-handling outlets to register their businesses with their respective municipalities by Friday, February 28.
Business owners who have successfully registered their spaza shops and trading stalls are encouraged to take the next step by obtaining their trading licences from their respective municipalities.

This is to ensure compliance with the Government Gazette, which mandates the registration of all spaza shops and food outlets.
Environmental health practitioners and other regulatory authorities will inspect registered food-related businesses to ensure that they meet the required standards to trade.
