Pepworth community receives fencing equipment from the mayor

The municipality encouraged the community to plant in order to make a living.

Pepworth is the latest beneficiary of an ongoing Local Economic Development (LED) programme under Alfred Duma Local Municipality.

Mayor Zama Sibisi visited the Pepworth area, Ward 22, today (February 13), where he handed over fencing equipment.

This programme seeks to promote self-reliance and community development. The beneficiaries are organisations that have already established community gardens in the area.

Addressing residents, the mayor encouraged the youth to establish NGOs, as it is easier for the municipality to help NGOs at a time when our country is facing a high unemployment rate.

Sibisi also informed them that the municipality is providing ploughing materials for NGOs.

The beneficiaries were excited to receive assistance from the municipality.

Induna Zikalala thanked the municipality for this initiative and promised to identify a piece of land to establish another community garden, as per the mayor’s request.
