IFP hands over newly-built house to Mbhele family

IFP chairperson Thami Ntuli encouraged councillors to make sure they deliver good service to the community in order to win over their hearts.

Yesterday (February 13), Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) chairperson and KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli officially handed over a new house to the Mbhele family in Frere.

Ntuli was accompanied by Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Mayor Mduduzi Myeza. The mayor built and donated the house in his capacity as IFP Youth Brigade Publicity Secretary.

The function was held in Ward 18. Frere.

Mrs Mbhele and her family have been living in two mud houses that are not in good condition.

Myeza explained that he was made aware of Mrs Mbhele’s situation through a social media post where someone took a photo of the mud houses and said they could collapse at any time. “I was so touched by the post that I took a decision to visit the family the next day. I was shocked to see the conditions Mrs Mbhele was living in. On the third day, I started to build the house,” said the mayor.

The house is fully furnished, has three bedrooms, a kitchen and a sitting room. A lightning conductor was also erected so that the family will be protected in the event of a severe storm.

Ntuli praised Myeza for doing such an amazing job of working with Ward 18 Councillor S Mchunu. He said the mayor is a role model even to other mayors, and he wishes other mayors would follow in his footsteps.
