Dangerous prank as children let dogs loose

Mischievous schoolchildren are allegedly opening people's gates to let their dogs out.

A concerning trend has been reported in the local community, where schoolchildren are said to be intentionally opening people’s front gates to let their dogs out into the streets.

According to Pauline Lennon, animal inspector at the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL), this prank has resulted in a sudden surge of stray dogs roaming around.

Lennon has taken swift action, sending letters to local schools to address the issue. “We have urged schools to speak to the children during assembly, emphasising that this behaviour is unacceptable and there are consequences,” she stated.

The AACL is concerned not only for the safety of the dogs, but also the potential risks posed to the community. “Loose dogs can cause accidents, frighten pedestrians and potentially lead to dog fights,” Lennon warned.

Residents are advised to be vigilant and report any stray dogs to the AACL.

In the meantime, parents and guardians are encouraged to speak to their children about the seriousness of this behaviour.

As the AACL continues to monitor the situation, Lennon says that, “We appeal to the community to help us address this issue and keep our neighbourhoods safe for both humans and animals.”
