Repairs in the pipeline as Roosboom remains without water

uThukela says that water tankers are being dispatched to the affected areas.

uThukela say they have identified the fault that is causing the water shortage in Roosboom.

In a statement issued today (March 17), they said that after inspection, the contractor has identified a fault in two production boreholes that have been out of order for quite some time. The parts have been ordered, but the actual repairs might take some time.

They also say that the pumps at Platrand Farm have been taken in for repairs. The contractor informed them that the parts to fix the pumps are not easily sourced and they have ordered them from Johannesburg. The parts are expected to be delivered sometime today or tomorrow.

According to uThukela, the parts will be installed on Wednesday (March 18) and the pumps will be put back on, on Thursday. The community can expect water to be back by Friday if everything goes according to plan.

uThukela say they have since met and given an update to the ward councillors from the affected wards.
