Chilly weather no match for warm spirits at Parkrun
Parkrun at Rooi Point Farm proves the perfect winter mood booster with free fun, fitness, and friendly faces every Saturday.
Temperatures may have been low but spirits were high at Saturday’s Parkrun.
Soon after Parkrun enthusiasts began their weekly dash through Rooi Point farm, layers of clothing came off as body heat went up.
Experts say physical activity may provide the ideal mental and emotional boost to beat the ‘Winter Blues’, especially through the release of endorphins that produce a ‘runners high’.
Parkrunners are urged to warm up properly and select proper clothing to make the most of this fun, social, family-friendly activity as winter approaches.
Parkrun organiser, Gwyneth Root, again reminded residents that entrance to parkrun is completely free and urged one and all to join.
“Come and have some jolly good fun, meet new people and make new friends,” said Root.
Parkrun takes place every Saturday at 8am at Rooi Point Farm (entrance across from Snips).
To log your times, register on the parkrun website and remember to carry your unique barcode to the event.
Children under 11-years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Only one dog is permitted per handler.
Remember: littering is not allowed!
