SANDF uniform, machetes found at Babanango dagga plantation

Police raided a disguised dagga plantation in Babanango, arresting 14 suspects and seizing evidence.

Fourteen suspects, including 10 foreign nationals, were arrested on Wednesday morning (July 16) at a dagga plantation and cultivation site in Springfield, Babanango.

A police operation uncovered dagga worth hundreds of thousands of rand. Multiple SAPS units from the district were involved in the co-ordination and execution of the op. Information received led the officers to approximately five hectares that had been disguised as a vegetable farm.

Processed cannabis, pieces of SANDF uniform, and machetes were recovered.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 40, are set to appear in the Babanango Magistrate’s Court soon.
