Ward 9 community meeting postponed to October 14

Ward 9 meeting moves to October 14 to ensure officials address service delivery complaints.

Residents of Ward 9 will have to wait a little longer to air their concerns to the municipality. The much-anticipated community meeting, first planned for September 30, has been shifted to Tuesday, October 14.

Ward councillor Magda Viktor said the change came after several key municipal officials failed to confirm their attendance for the September date. “We need the right people in the room so that residents get proper answers to their questions,” she explained.

The October 14 meeting at Cecil Emmett Hall will serve as a follow-up to the meeting held last month, where Mayor Sifiso Mkhwanazi asked for 10 days to investigate complaints raised by the community. He is now expected to return with directors responsible for electricity, billing, and roads to give feedback on the issues.

While the meeting is arranged for Ward 9, councillor Viktor has confirmed that residents from other wards are welcome to attend and raise their concerns.
