Commemorating their king in grand style

The Amahlubi nation comes together annually to celebrate their founding monarch, Inkosi Langalibalele I.

The Estcourt community came alive on Saturday, October 10, as the Amahlubi nation gathered to commemorate their founding monarch, Amahlubi King Langalibalele I. The annual celebration took place at the eMadlangeni Royal Palace of His Majesty Amahlubi King Langalibalele II in KwaBhekuzulu.

The event drew guests and well-wishers from across South Africa and neighbouring countries, showcasing unity, cultural pride and heritage preservation.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Deputy Minister of National Social Development Mr Mogamad Ganief Ebrahim Hendricks; Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Mayor Mduduzi Myeza; and several political figures including Mr Willies Mchunu of the MKP and Member of Parliament Mr Vuyolwethu Zungula of the ATM.

Traditional music and dancing marked the day in honouring the legacy of King Langalibalele I – celebrated for his leadership, resilience and contribution to the Amahlubi identity.
