Multiple injured in series of crashes near Vryheid

KwaZulu Private Ambulance responds to three separate crashes near Vryheid, leaving several seriously injured.

KwaZulu Private Ambulance’s Vryheid crews had a demanding Sunday, responding to three separate vehicle crashes within eight hours. The incidents left five people seriously injured and two with minor injuries.

The first crash occurred around 08:30 on Emondlo Road when a bus and a car collided. Paramedics treated three patients at the scene, two with serious injuries and one with minor injuries, before transporting them to hospital.

At about 12:30, emergency teams were called to the R33 Khambula Road after a bakkie overturned several times. Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. They were stabilized on scene and taken to hospital for further care.

Later, at about 16:30, another crash was reported on the R69 Louwsburg Road, where a bakkie lost control and overturned, trapping two occupants. One patient was seriously injured and another sustained minor injuries. Paramedics freed and treated both before transporting them to hospital.

Police are investigating all three incidents to determine the causes of the crashes.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution, obey speed limits, and adjust to road conditions, especially on regional routes where collisions remain a serious concern.
