Representing the club in the Freestyle (male) Division, André Kotze, Christiaan Smith, Zander Paquot and Daegen Cronk competed across various weight brackets against some of the top young athletes in the country. They displayed impressive technique, strength and resilience, proudly holding the club’s name high on the national stage.

In the President’s Category (based on weight, open to age), Liané Paquot earned a gold medal after a series of outstanding performances, while Christiaan Smith and Zander Paquot delivered strong showings in their respective divisions. Their dedication and perseverance throughout the competition were commendable.

André Kotze took on a new challenge, competing in the Greco Roman Division for the first time. Despite facing tough opponents, he demonstrated courage and determination, giving his all in every match.
The club’s young female wrestlers also impressed in the Freestyle (female) Division – Liané Paquot and Ava Smith both secured first place in their weight and age categories, while Lyzmarie Smith earned a silver medal and Ava Purchase proudly claimed bronze.

The club would also like to express its gratitude for the dedication and love of head coach Mr P Dry, as well as the assistant coaches, parents and Mrs C Paquot for standing in as an official at the event.

The club officials expressed immense pride in all the athletes’ performances, emphasising that simply qualifying for the national championships is a significant achievement. “Medal or no medal, these wrestlers represented us with heart, discipline and true sportsmanship,” a spokesperson said. “Their hard work and dedication continue to inspire both teammates and the community.”

The club continues to nurture young talent and encourage discipline, perseverance and respect – values that extend far beyond the wrestling mat.
