Provincial government hosts Cabinet Day in Ntabamhlophe
Cabinet MECs visited government projects within Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality to assess their performance.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government today (October 29) held a District Development Model (DDM) Cabinet Day at Mdwebu Sports Field in Ntabamhlophe, under uThukela District and Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality. The event brought together all Members of the Executive Council (MECs) and representatives from various government departments.
KZN Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli explained that the purpose of the Cabinet Day was to conduct an oversight visit to government projects, assess departmental performance, and engage directly with the community to understand their challenges.
In his address, Ntuli highlighted issues raised by the community, including stock theft (particularly in the Emagweni area). He urged residents to work closely with the police while protecting their identities, and encouraged women to take a stand against crime, drawing inspiration from the women of 1956 who fought against the pass laws.

Mrs Popi Mokoena from Operation Sukuma Sakhe called on provincial government to intervene in addressing various social ills affecting the community, including teenage pregnancy, stock theft and general crime. Responding to the concern about teenage pregnancy, the premier warned parents to be more vigilant, noting that this scourge is steadily increasing.
Community members from various wards under Inkosi Langalibalele Municipality were also given the opportunity to raise their concerns. Many pleaded with the various departments to prioritise service delivery issues, particularly the improvement and maintenance of road infrastructure.
The DDM Cabinet Day forms part of provincial government’s efforts to bring services closer to the people and strengthen collaboration between different spheres of government to fast-track development in local communities.
