Municipality hosts clean-up campaign in Colita

The campaign aimed to promote cleaner and healthier communities.

The Office of the Mayor joined hands with other stakeholders for a clean-up campaign in Ward 10, Colita area, yesterday (October 27). On board for the project was the Department of Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs and Community Services Department, including Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and Community Work Programme (CWP) workers under Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality.

The initiative aimed to address the ongoing issue of illegal dumping by cleaning up affected areas and educating residents on the importance of proper waste disposal. Illegal dumping remains a major environmental concern, leading to pollution that harms both human health and wildlife.

Through this campaign, community members were firstly reminded of their role in keeping their surroundings clean and secondly encouraged to use designated waste disposal sites. By maintaining clean neighbourhoods, the municipality hopes to promote a healthier environment and instil a culture of environmental responsibility among residents.
