Clean-up campaign to combat illegal dumping in Steadville

The initiative aims to educate residents on proper waste management.

In an effort to curb illegal dumping in residential areas, Community Work Programme (CWP) teams under Alfred Duma Local Municipality launched a clean-up campaign in Steadville Area J, Ward 21.

Programmes manager Mr Shaka Chonco explained that the initiative aims not only to clean up the environment, but also to educate residents about responsible waste disposal.

“We are deeply concerned about the persistent issue of illegal dumping in our communities,” said Chonco. “Through these visits to various wards under Alfred Duma Municipality, we are teaching residents about proper and legal ways to dispose of waste.”
