Scenic route draws more runners as weather warms up

As warmer weather settles in, more participants are taking advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the scenic forest and open fields that make the Vryheid parkrun route so popular.

Organisers thank participants and welcome newcomers

The organisers expressed appreciation to all the regular participants and extended a warm welcome to new runners joining the community.

Eight participants posted personal best times, namely Antony, Yomelela, Azalondwe, Nqobile, Jeanette, Fanyana, Elke and Surina.

Milestones celebrated by dedicated runners and volunteers

Parkrun milestones are an important part of the weekly event, recognising those who reach specific participation or volunteer milestones. These are awarded at 25, 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000 runs or volunteer occasions. Runners receive recognition both online and at the local events, where fellow participants celebrate their achievements.

This past weekend, Debbie Boock completed her 50th parkrun, while Elisma Pretorius was acknowledged for completing her 25th volunteer milestone.

Community spirit keeps runners coming back

The organisers encourage participants to continue running, jogging, walking and volunteering, adding that every milestone represents commitment, community spirit and personal growth.
