Mthashana College promotes talent through new student societies

Mthashana College launches its first clubs and societies to nurture student talent and participation.

Mthashana College launched its first-ever clubs and societies on Friday at the Engineering Campus, attended by students from Nquthu, KwaGqikazi, Emandleni and Vryheid.

Purpose behind the initiative

According to Thabani Nkosi, who is driving this initiative, the clubs aim to boost student morale and provide meaningful extracurricular engagement beyond academics.

Building well-rounded students

Nkosi explained that the college wants to produce holistic graduates — not only academically capable but also socially and creatively developed through participation in sport, culture and entertainment.

Empowering students to lead

He emphasised that while the college has formalised the structures, students themselves will lead and grow the clubs, taking them to provincial and national levels.

Unlocking talent and opportunities

Nkosi added that clubs and societies often serve as platforms where artists and athletes discover their potential — inspiring students to pursue excellence in music, dance and sport.

Cultural performances bring energy to the launch

Students showcased their talents in Ingoma (Zulu traditional dance), gumboot dancing and Zion Christian music, making the event vibrant and memorable.

Support and entertainment close the day

The college pledged continued support for these clubs, while popular maskandi artists Ezika Mthakashana and Mjolisi wrapped up the day with lively performances.
