Vryheid Child Welfare sent a heartfelt thank you to all the participants and volunteers who turned out for the toy run on Saturday morning. The support, generosity and kindness shown by the community meant a great deal.

Strong running from Andile Manyathi

At Vryheid parkrun, the top spot on Saturday went to Andile Manyathi. This marked his fourth win, and he crossed the line with strong form and confidence. Congratulations, Andile.

Tahlia Roelofsz leads the women and juniors

The first female finisher and first junior was Tahlia Roelofsz, who powered through the final stretch and left her competition behind. Her finish brought great excitement to the crowd. Well done, Tahlia.

Newcomers join the parkrun community

Saturday also brought a fresh group of first timers. Some had taken part before as “unknown” runners but were now officially registered. It was good to have them join the community.

Eleven runners achieve personal bests

The weekend produced an impressive run of 11 new personal bests. Congratulations to Sannie, Alex, Wayne, Izelda, Mfihlakalo, Dominique, Elisma, Njabulo, Nompilo, Thabani and Fanyana. Their steady improvement each week stood out.

A milestone moment for Tinus Coetzer

A special shout-out went to Tinus Coetzer, who reached his 100th parkrun milestone on Saturday. His daughter Jacolette and grandson Simeon joined him, with Simeon completing his very first event. It turned into a proud family moment. Congratulations, Tinus.

Parkrun brings people together

Parkrun was, as always, more than a walk or run in the park. It was a chance to connect with friendly, active people who share a love for running, walking and the outdoors. Whether at home or away, participants enjoyed the same sense of belonging at one of the 227 parkruns in South Africa or any of the 2 600 events worldwide.
