Steadville sewer pump station vandalised

uThukela District Municipality has issued a notice to inform the community that the Steadville sewer pump station was vandalised today (December 3).

According to uThukela, electric panels and cables were stolen, while pumps were removed and also stolen. As a result, raw sewage is rising up and will eventually spill over.

“In the meantime, the municipality is working around the clock to get new pumps and other equipment as replacements. Currently, procurement processes are being followed to carry out repairs at the pump station. We will give updates on the latest developments, ” said a spokesperson for the district municipality.

uThukela apologises for any inconvenience caused.
