Report stray animals to Public Safety, not AACL

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League does not pick up stray animals - rather contact Public Safety on 036 631 1777 or 083 631 1777.

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) would like to reiterate that they work to address animal cruelty and guide the public on the correct procedures when animals are in danger. They do not pick up stray animals.

Also, members of the public are advised not to pick up stray animals themselves. Instead, all cases involving strays must be reported to the Department of Public Safety.

New animal inspector Storm Wayner has emphasised that the correct procedure is to contact Public Safety and lodge an official complaint. This will ensure that the situation is handled safely, legally and by the appropriate authority.

Public Safety can be contacted on the following numbers:

036 631 1777

083 631 1777

For general enquiries, advice or matters related to animal cruelty, the AACL can be contacted directly on:

076 151 1784

Following the correct reporting process helps protect animals and the public, and ensures that cases are handled efficiently and responsibly.
