Devotees honour Thaipoosam through devotion and unity

Devotees observed the 2026 festival with discipline and heartfelt gratitude despite challenging weather conditions.

The Siva Subramanian Temple in Surryaville held its annual Thaipoosam Kavady celebration on Sunday (February 1).

Thaipoosam 2026 was a sacred and spiritually uplifting observance, marked by deep devotion, discipline and unity.

Meaningful and successful celebration

The 10-day period of prayer and ritual reflected the strong faith and commitment of the community.

We begin by expressing our sincere gratitude to our revered Guru, Parmasiva Kishan Naidoo, whose unwavering dedication, guidance and spiritual leadership throughout the observance were truly inspiring.

His selfless service ensured that every ritual was conducted with sanctity, precision and profound meaning, enriching the spiritual experience for all devotees.

Heartfelt appreciation is extended to all devotees whose faith, perseverance and devotion embodied the true essence of Thaipoosam.

Despite extreme heat, many displayed remarkable patience, humility and discipline, remaining steadfast in their prayers and vows.

“We also sincerely thank the temple members and volunteers for their tireless efforts before, during and after the festival.”

Their dedication, co-operation and spirit of seva were instrumental in ensuring that Thaipoosam Kavady 2026 was conducted smoothly, safely and with dignity, even in challenging weather conditions.

Our gratitude extends to the Newcastle Siva Subramanian Bhajan Group for rendering soulful and uplifting devotional songs throughout the 10 days.

Their offerings created a vibrant atmosphere of faith and reverence, while the powerful rhythm of the drums elevated the spiritual energy of each prayer and procession.

We gratefully acknowledge our sponsors and benefactors for their generous support, patience and understanding.

Their contributions played a vital role in the successful organisation of this auspicious event.

Finally, and most importantly, we thank everyone who contributed in any way to making Thaipoosam Kavady 2026 a meaningful and successful celebration.

May the blessings of Lord Murugan be upon you and your families, and may the spirit of devotion experienced during Thaipoosam continue to guide and uplift us all.
