Local municipality is back with back-to-school campaign

All high schools within Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality will be visited.

Led by Mayor Mduduzi Myeza, Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality (ILM) began its back-to-school campaign this week, where they will visit all Estcourt high schools to donate uniforms and shoes to struggling learners.

In addition to that, the mayor is also giving one laptop to each school; the laptop will be presented to the learner with the best results for the year.

Day 1 of this year’s campaign began at Drakensberg Comprehensive High School and then proceeded to Bhekundi and Wembezi Secondary schools.

For this programme, the mayor was accompanied by Deputy Mayor S Dladla, Speaker SW Khumalo and ILM councillors. Not only does the mayor donate uniforms, but he and his delegation also encourage and motivate learners and teachers to work hard for the rest of the year.

“I am very glad to have visited the schools we have visited so far, where we brought back hope and encouraged the culture of learning and teaching while the academic year is still starting. We are doing this under the slogan: ‘It takes a village to raise a child’,” the mayor said.

Myeza went on to congratulate the ‘Class of 2025’ for the outstanding work they put in last year. Notable schools include Khandimfundo High School after they obtained a 100% pass rate.
