Driver and child killed in R69 crash near Vryheid
A driver and a child were killed in a two-vehicle collision on the R69.
Two vehicles were involved in a serious crash on the R69 this evening (Saturday). The driver of one vehicle and a child were killed in the collision. The other four passengers were treated on the scene and transported to hospital.
Emergency services dispatched to scene
Road Traffic Angels SA confirmed that the crash involved two vehicles. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident was reported.

“We can confirm that an accident occurred on the R69 involving two vehicles, and all relevant emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene,” said Marlize Harmse from Road Traffic Angels SA.
Harmse, who plays a key role in coordinating accident response nationally, confirmed that the driver of one vehicle and a child died as a result of the crash. The age of the child could not be confirmed at the time of reporting.
Police open investigation
Police attended the scene and have opened an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
