Three pedestrians were seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Oos Street.

Three pedestrians were left seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Oost Street near the Princess Mkabayi Mall this morning (Tuesday).

Emergency services respond to scene

KwaZulu Private Ambulance Services responded to the scene at approximately 08:00 following reports of a pedestrian-vehicle collision. On arrival, paramedics found that a single motor vehicle had lost control before hitting three pedestrians who were crossing the roadway.

Victims identified as local workers

The injured pedestrians were identified as local workers travelling to their place of employment.

One patient critically injured

“Paramedics arrived to find three pedestrians who had been struck by a vehicle,” said Craig Botha, media liaison for KwaZulu Private Ambulance Services. “One patient was critically injured and required advanced life support intervention at the scene, while the other two sustained serious injuries.”

Patients stabilised and transported

Emergency crews immediately initiated a rapid triage and provided life-saving treatment before stabilising all three patients. They were then transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent further care.

Vehicle occupants unharmed

The occupants of the vehicle involved were assessed by paramedics and found to be unharmed. The scene was cleared without causing major traffic disruptions in the area.

Police launch investigation

The South African Police Service remained on scene to secure the area and have launched an investigation into the exact cause of the incident.
