Mayor visits road construction project in Wembezi

The construction work is expected to be completed over the weekend.

Road construction in Wembezi is currently underway and is expected to be finished soon, bringing much-needed improvements to the area’s infrastructure. The project covers two wards – Ward 17 under Councillor Mchunu, and Ward 9 under Councillor Madinane.

Oversight visit

Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Mayor Mduduzi Myeza conducted an oversight visit to the site on Thursday (February 19) to monitor the progress made so far.

The road being upgraded starts near the clinic in VQ, continues uphill past St John’s Church and extends to Mahhashini in Khwezi, connecting to the main road used by public taxis. This route is a key transport corridor for the community.

Completion of the work

The construction work is expected to be completed over the weekend. By Monday (February 23), vehicles are anticipated to travel smoothly on the newly improved road, which had previously caused difficulties for motorists due to its poor condition.

Myeza said the project restores great hope to the community, emphasising that the municipality is committed to ensuring that roads built by council are maintained in ‘good and satisfactory condition’.
