Dannhauser residents call for shutdown

Residents plan shutdown in Dannhauser as they demand answers over service delivery concerns.

There has been a quiet start to the planned shutdown in  Dannhauser today to protest against ongoing water issues affecting the area.

Community members have been urged to assemble outside the Shell garage to voice their concerns over service delivery issues.

Leaders expected to address gathering

Organisers, who contacted the Courier on condition of staying anonymous,  said they have informed the local station commander of the South African Police Service in Dannhauser about the planned protest.

Mayor Bongani Habebe and the Council Speaker are expected to be brought to the assembly point to respond to residents’ concerns.

Organisers have appealed for calm, stating that the protest will be conducted in co-operation with police to ensure it remains peaceful. Residents have been instructed to assemble only at the Shell Garage and not in town.

Further details are expected to emerge as the situation develops.
