Strong sporting performances by Vryheid High teams

Vryheid High impresses in fixtures, with strong results and multiple netball selections.

Vryheid High School proudly showcased its sporting excellence during recent fixtures against Pongola and Sarel Cilliers, with outstanding performances across rugby, netball, and hockey.

Dominant performances against Pongola

Sport vs Pongola – March 17
The netball teams dominated their matches with impressive victories:
• U/14 A: 22–2
• U/15 A: 22–1
• U/15 B: 11–1

In a tightly contested senior match, the VHS second team went down 19–24 against Pongola’s first team.

The girls’ hockey first team delivered a commanding performance, winning 6–0.

On the rugby field, strong results were recorded:
• U/14: 53–0
• U/15: 17–21
• First team: 29–5

Tough battles against Sarel Cilliers

Sport vs Sarel Cilliers – March 21
Rugby teams faced tough opposition:
• U/14: 38–7
• U/15: 7–0
• U/16: 7–17
• Third team: 0–7
• Second team: 5–26
• First team: 12–24

Netball teams continued their strong form:
• U/14 A: 13–8
• U/15 A: 7–6
• U/16 B: 9–2
• Second team: 10–20
• First team: 16–13

Players selected for Zululand

Zululand Netball Trials
The Zululand Netball Trials took place on March 19. Congratulations to the following Vryheid High players who were selected for the Zululand team and will participate in the Natal Trials on April 25:

• U/14: Zime Buthelezi, Malwande Sosibo, Ongezwa Mbonambi
• U/15: Londiwe Mbatha, Melo Ntaka, Mpilenhle Ngcobo, Mia Swanepoel
• U/16: Oletha Ziqubu, Oluhle Masuku
• U/17: Promise Odekpe, Nongcebo Mhlongo, Nontuthuko Nkosi, Amahle Ntuli, Nonjabulo Zungu
