Eskom announces 14-hour power outage in Estcourt

Treat all electrical installations as live at all times, cautions Eskom.

It is expected that residents in parts of Estcourt will experience significant disruption to their electricity supply tomorrow (April 1), following an announcement by Eskom of a planned 14-hour power outage.

According to Eskom, the outage is scheduled to take place from 05:00 to 19:00.

Eskom notice shared with customers

“Customers are advised of a planned outage affecting the Bloukrans/Buffelshoek 1 132kV Overhead Line in the Estcourt area of service on Wednesday, 01 April 2026, from 05h00 to 19h00. The alternate date for the outage is 09 April 2026.”

Areas to be affected

The areas expected to be impacted include Drakensberg Rural, Emaswazini (KwaSmahla), Emoyeni, Mqedandaba, Ngonyameni, Nkomokazini, Shiyabazali and Tatane.

Prepare in advance

Eskom has urged both residents and businesses to prepare in advance by making arrangements for alternative power sources during the outage. “Please take all safety precautions during the outage and treat all electrical installations as live at all times,” Eskom cautioned.

The power utility apologises for the inconvenience caused and thanks customers for their co-operation.
