RTI joins forces with other stakeholders at roadblock
Roadblocks in Dundee aim to boost enforcement, reduce fatal accidents, and improve safety for motorists and pedestrians.
On March 27, Dundee’s Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI) held an Integrated Multi-Disciplinary Roadblock at the R621 Dannhauser/Normandien crossing on the N11.
Joining the operation was the SAPS, Military Police, Immigration, SANRAL and Correctional Services.
Purpose and mission
The purpose of the roadblock was to demonstrate a visible presence and to strengthen traffic law enforcement within the Dundee jurisdiction.
This operation (and future ones) aim to ensure that all road users remain vigilant and comply with the regulations set out in the National Road Traffic Act (Act 93 of 1996) while travelling within Dundee and surrounding areas.

Broader objective
The broader objective is to reduce fatal accidents by at least 50% in the Dundee area.
This aligns with the National Road Safety Strategy and the Decade of Action for Road Safety (2021-2023), which calls for a significant reduction in road fatalities across KZN and South Africa.
Law enforcement efforts will continue to focus on improving safety for all road users, including pedestrians. Particular attention will be given to unsafe pedestrian behaviour.

- 117 vehicles were stopped and checked
