Cupcake drive raises hope for children with cancer
Hippo-Campus Academy hosts cupcake drive to support children with cancer through national charity initiative.

Believe it or not, cupcakes helped save lives.
Hippo-Campus Academy hosted a ‘Cupcakes for Children with Cancer’ drive on Saturday, March 28.
Sweet treats supported a serious cause
The initiative aimed to raise funds for the Cupcakes of Hope Foundation, an organisation dedicated to supporting children and families affected by childhood cancer.
What is Cupcakes of Hope?
Their journey began when a two-year-old girl was diagnosed with cancer. Her family’s eyes were opened to the deep pain and overwhelming challenges faced by families fighting childhood cancer.
Their first fundraiser was for an 18-month-old boy, paralysed by tumours on his spine. His family needed a special mattress and a secure car seat for their hospital journeys. Cupcakes of Hope raised R5000 – although it seemed small, it changed everything. Doctors did not expect him to see his second birthday, but in October last year, he celebrated his 18th birthday!
In September 2012, the foundation hosted South Africa’s first National Cupcake Day
Communities across the country united to bake some hope and support children battling cancer. From that single fundraiser, they now financially assist more than 140 patients every month. Their volunteers, partners and supporters are the hand and hearts behind every miracle.
