Bangladesh national shot dead near Osizweni
The motive for the killing is not yet known.
A Bangladesh national was shot dead in his vehicle on the Seldrift Road, near the Thandeka Bridge in Osizweni, yesterday afternoon (May 9).
According to an official source close to the scene, who is not permitted to speak to the media, the shooting occurred at around 13:15.
The victim, who owned a spaza shop in Osizweni, was allegedly travelling back from town after buying stock.
It is believed he was stopped by another vehicle along the road before the occupants got out and opened fire on him.
Law enforcement officials were called to the scene, where paramedics declared the victim dead.
The motive for the murder remains unknown at this stage.
The Newcastle Advertiser has reached out to Constable Nonjabulo Langa for official police comment. However, no response had been received at the time of publishing.
