Group clarifies Endumeni municipality protest was not organised by MK Party

Make Endumeni Live Again says it organised the municipal shutdown protest and not the MK Party.

The group behind Monday morning’s shutdown at the Endumeni Municipality offices has clarified that the action was organised by Make Endumeni Live Again and not the MK Party.

This follows reports that linked the protest directly to the MK Party after municipal staff arrived to find the main entrance chained and locked.

Group seeks to clear up confusion

Speaking to the Courier, Vusa Mthembu of Make Endumeni Live Again said the group wanted to correct what it described as a misunderstanding regarding the organisers of the protest action.

“There were concerns about reports stating that the MK Party shut down the municipal offices. We want to clarify that the action was organised by Make Endumeni Live Again and not the MK Party,” he said.

Mthembu added that the group felt it was important that the correct information be communicated to the public to avoid confusion.

The protest centred around concerns relating to undocumented foreign nationals, street trading and by-law enforcement in Dundee.

Police monitored the situation during the protest, and no major incidents were reported.

REPORT has been updated to clarify organiser’s name
