Newcastle Coastal Hire golf day raises funds for charity

Seventy golfers competed in the Coastal Hire Golf Day to help raise funds for charity.

Coastal Hire Newcastle hosted its first annual golf day at Newcastle Golf Club on Saturday.

The event aimed to raise funds for charity, with proceeds set to be distributed to deserving causes.

Seventy golfers support first fundraising event

Franchise owner Corné Engelbrecht said the day was a great success, with about 70 golfers competing for top honours.

Engelbrecht thanked all the players, sponsors and water-table supporters who contributed to the success of the event.

“We are grateful to everyone who supported our first golf day. We are already looking forward to hosting the next one,” he said.

The results were:

  • 1st: Charl Coetsee – 42 points (count-out)
  • 2nd: George Chen – 42 points (count-out)
  • 3rd: Shaun Elliot – 41 points
  • 4th: Brandt van den Berg – 40 points (count-out)
  • 5th: Owen van Aarde – 40 points (count-out)
  • Longest drive: Jeff Fenton
  • Closest to the pin: Leon Rothmann
