Cyclist dies after being struck by vehicle in Newcastle

The young man was hit by a car in Albert Wessels Drive while on his way to work.

A young man was killed while cycling in Albert Wessels Drive, Riverside Industrial Area, yesterday morning (July 30).

According to a source not authorised to speak to the media, the man was cycling to work at around 08:00 when he was struck by a vehicle.

The exact details surrounding the incident are still unclear at this stage.

Resuscitation attempts fail

Despite all attempts to resuscitate the cyclist, he sadly died as a result of his injuries.

The Newcastle Advertiser has reached out to the police for official comment. However, despite acknowledgement of the enquiry, no response had been received at the time of publishing.

The deceased’s name is known to this newspaper.
