Driver faces culpable homicide charges after cyclist dies
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after the death of a cyclist in Albert Wessels Drive.
Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Officer, SAC Lizzy Arumugam, has confirmed that a case of culpable homicide has been opened following the death of a cyclist in Albert Wessels Drive yesterday morning (July 30).
Cyclist hit by delivery van
According to Arumugam, when police arrived at the scene, they found a young man lying on the ground after being struck by a delivery van.
Attempts to resuscitate the cyclist were unsuccessful and his body was handed over to Medico Mortuary Services.
The matter remains subject to further police investigation.
