Assistance needed as school closure looms

“We believe you will find value in supporting the school and shining some light in a time of darkness for the community and surrounding areas.”

Okhalweni Primary School held a sports day on Thursday to foster hope among the learners and educators at a time when the school faces an uncertain future.
Representatives from various organisations, including Amasobonde founder Ayanda Kubheka, were present to show their support.

The sporting event was held to give hope to the pupils and staff at the school, so that teaching and learning can continue in a positive atmosphere.
Ayanda mentioned that the school has 45 learners and five educators who don’t know what they will do if their school closes down. The Vryheid Herald has run previous articles about the school’s plight.
Encouraging other organisations and individuals to also support the school, Ayanda said, “We believe you will find value in supporting the school and shining some light in a time of darkness for the community and surrounding areas.” Support would be appreciated in the form of (among other things) water, light food, trophies, medals, netball or football equipment or kits. Should you need any clarity or more information, feel free to contact Ayanda Kubheka on 079 107 3654.
