SANBS celebrates young donors at peer promoters’ function

The purpose of the event was to thank the learners who give blood and those who, in their capacity as SANBS peer promoters, inspire others to donate throughout their schools.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) held its annual Northern KZN peer promoters function at the Pines Conference and Wedding Centre on Friday (February 9).

The day kicked off with a hearty breakfast for the attendees followed by speeches from each of the schools, which were not only informative but also highly entertaining.

The peer promoters do the hard work of convincing their peers about blood donations.

“This is the first year that I am donating (blood),” said Ayabonga Mphehle.

“I feel it is important to overcome your fear and donate because by just giving your blood, you can save countless lives.”

The learners left with a day full of treasured memories, a gift bag, and the understanding that they are changing lives.
