Monument proud of their swimmers

Numerous medals were brought home

Nine Monument Primary School swimmers took part in the SACSSA National Gala held at the Kingspark swimming pool in Durban recently. 

For most of these swimmers, it was their first time swimming at such a prestigious event and also swimming in an Olympic-size swimming pool.

The swimmers ended up winning 18 individual medals and five medals for relays.

The medal winners were:
Luné Coetsee – 1 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze and relay silver;
Lelanie Marais – 1 bronze;
Kaylee vd Merwe – 2 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze and relay silver;
Reon Basson – 1 silver and 3 bronze;
Iwan Lindeque – 1 bronze;
Ruben Struwig – 1 gold, 1 silver and relay 2 gold.

The principal and educators are very proud of all these children, as they kept the school’s flag flying high and performed at their best.
