Vryheid Landbou excels in sports and culture this term

Vryheid Landbou begins Term Two with strong academics, sports wins and community initiatives.

Vryheid Landbou High School warmly welcomed learners and staff back for Term Two, with the campus coming alive with renewed energy and a strong sense of purpose. Following a well-deserved break, the school reopened with enthusiasm and a clear focus on academic success.
The term is set to be both busy and rewarding, with a full programme of sporting, cultural and academic activities already underway.

Strong start to the term
The positive atmosphere on campus reflects the school’s commitment to excellence, with learners and staff embracing the opportunities that Term Two brings.

Successful blood donation drive
On April 9, the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) hosted a blood donation clinic at the school. With a target of 45 donations, the initiative received an overwhelming response from both learners and staff, surpassing expectations. The school extended its gratitude to all who contributed to the life-saving campaign.

Mixed results on the sports field
A recent sports fixture against Pongola Akademie delivered a combination of challenges and successes. While the rugby teams faced tough competition and did not secure wins, they demonstrated determination, resilience and teamwork.

In contrast, the netball teams excelled, with all sides recording convincing victories. The hockey team also celebrated a well-deserved win, making the day a proud display of the school’s spirit and unity.

Choir festival celebrates unity through music
On April 10, the school hosted a vibrant and spontaneous choir festival featuring Utrecht High School, Vryheid Comprehensive School, the Umilo NKZN Youth Choir and Vryheid Landbou.

The event aimed to raise funds for the NKZN Umilo Youth Choir’s upcoming trip to the University of Pretoria on June 6. The festival proved to be a resounding success, enjoyed by both performers and audience members, and highlighted the unifying power of music.

Learners advance to rugby trials
The school also celebrated the achievements of two learners selected to represent NKZN at the next round of rugby trials in the Midlands.
