Four people arrested as more illegal guns are rooted out in the Umzinyathi area

SAPS in the Umzinyathi District have been waging an unprecedented war against illegal firearms.

Two illegal firearms were rooted out and three men were arrested when police raided two targets in the Pomeroy area in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.
Following up on a tip-off, the KZN Tactical Response Team swooped, seizing one R5 assault rifle and one .38 Special handgun.

In a separate incident, an intelligence-driven operation was conducted by the Umzinyathi District Task Team in the Kwawolwane area, which resulted in the arrest of a 30-year-old man for being in possession of an unlicensed pistol.
All the arrested suspects will soon appear in the Msinga Magistrate’s Court.
