•The National Water Act (No.36 of 1998), Section 21(a) taking water from a water resource, (c) impeding or diverting the flow of water in a watercourse, and (i) altering the bed, banks course or characteristics of a watercourse. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The uThukela District Municipality have identified the need to upgrade the water supply network within the region. As such an application for a water use licence is being submitted on behalf of the applicant uThukela District municipality, for the proposed construction of the Winterton Water Supply. The project is located within ward 1 of the Okhahlamba Local Municipality, uThukela District, KwaZulu- Natal. The project is located along the Little Tugela River. The proposed abstraction works is located at 2849`4.95`S 2932`42.62`E and the Water Treatment Works is located at 2848`57.80`S 2932`51.10`E .
