Q: Mayor, when are you going to build pedestrian walk in our township since it’s so difficult for us joggers especially in the morning? Taxis stop everywhere it’s not safe. Bheki Zwane

A: As you can see, we are paving all the sidewalks in the townships and the town. This however can only be done in a few years.

Q: Mayor how come we don’t have a decent park in town like Ladysmith where people sit in the shade and have a their lunch? Thanks. Peter

A: We are planing an upgrade of parks in and around Newcastle as well as new parks in Madadeni and Osizweni. The Crawford Str Park will be a pilot project. Watch this space for new plans. We will continue to strive to turn NN into a world class city.

A: It needs a new fence amongst other things. I will refer this to the budget process.

Q: Mayor do we have a new taxi rank in Allen Str next to the Mall? Cant see us getting award for cleanest town any longer. A fatal accident is looming.

A: There is a taxi rank at the mall that is awaiting licenses from province.
