Coincidentally when our organisation conducted its year-end service and 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Child Abuse at St Barnabas Anglican Church on December 5, the same night shocking, alarming and sad news that the first democratic president of the Republic of South Africa Dr Nelson R Mandela is no more, was announced by the State President His Excellency Mr JG Zuma.

We, as the Estcourt Sizanani Christian Churches Association (ESCCA) want to join multitudes to confirm that the world did not only lose a political icon but a courageous preacher of forgiveness, peace and harmony.

He also exemplified the gospel of Jesus by loving children and fighting for the poor and oppressed.

To the bereaved Mandela family and the world at large, we as ESCCA would like to convey our sincere condolences, praying to the Almighty Father God to “give you another comforter that may be with you forever.” (John 14:16)
