Congrats to all the matriculants

It is very strange to suddenly see a high pass rate for schools that didn't fare well at all in previous years

Editor – I would like to congratulate all the 2013 matrics who passed their final exams.

Well done, guys! Unfortunately, there will always be those who didn’t make it or didn’t do so well.

It’s good to hear that the matric pass rate has improved across the country. However, that being said, I have a question to ask: “Is the improvement due to smarter, more hardworking matrics or because the standard of education is constantly dropping in this country?” I’d love to think the former scenario is true, but somehow I have my doubts. If the latter is the truth, then a matric certificate won’t be worth the paper it’s written on and won’t be accepted by the rest of the world. Call me a pessimist, but it is very strange to suddenly see a high pass rate for schools that didn’t fare well at all in previous years. But let’s not take anything away from the great performances of those who notched up a string of A symbols. Go off to university and continue to make us all proud!
