Editor – I, as a Smartiesville resident, am furious regarding the murder of Mrs Surajpal that took place last week.
This is now the second murder in the same street, so why is nothing being done about it? Where are the police?
We feel unsafe living here, with thugs walking the streets day and night. If something isn’t done soon, it will get to the point where the community will have no other choice but to take the law into its own hands, because the ‘powers that be’ are certainly not helping us.
The main priority of the police should be to solve cases as soon as possible and arrest the suspects. It surely cannot take the police months or years to do this? Innocent lives are being lost and we, as Indians, are fed up.
We can’t sleep at night for fear that we are being watched by killers who are just waiting to make their deadly move. We pray every day that we will not be the next victim.
We want the police to become more visible in our area and do something to put our minds at ease. If the police pay no attention to this request, then by hook or by crook we will do something to take back control of our lives. We refuse to live in fear as victims in our own homes!
